We take our health for granted until it is gone. In February 1991, I was a working mother of 5 beautiful, healthy children. On a bright, sunny Monday morning, we moved to a rural farm in Jackson County, West Virginia. By that Sunday, my mother passed away. Four days later, I gave birth to my sixth healthy baby. I was a mess- mentally and physically! We had just begun construction on a new home and I was doing all I could to help my husband, Doug, at his law office, which was nearly an hour drive from the new farm house. You talk about STRESS!!!!
By October, I was completely overwhelmed- I spent my days running kids from school to practice, keeping the home fires burning while my husband was at work, trying to keep a toddler under control and nursing an infant. On the 14th of October, I was in a car accident and everything in my life changed forever.
When my husband arrived on the scene, he said I was talking funny and not making sense. After being checked out at the hospital, I was diagnosed with whip lash and a closed head injury. I was in a lot of pain.
They prescribed muscle relaxers and pain medication. I have little memory from that point in 1991 until the summer of 1996. In 1992, I was diagnosed with fibromyalgia, myofacial pain, bursitis, arthritis, migraines, depression, B12 deficiency, magnesium deficiency, and a host of others. Later I was diagnosed with cervical cancer. I also showed sighs of high cholesterol, high blood pressure and could not sleep.
The doctors had done all they could for me and I was loosing my mind. I was in constant pain and didn’t want anyone to touch me. My muscles would spasm in one place for 3 days at a time. The bursitis in my hip kept me from going up and down steps and from getting in and out of a chair. I could not lift my baby to change her diaper. I was in a world where I was making everyone miserable. I don’t know why my husband stayed with me. I was afraid to go to sleep because of terrible nightmares (from the antidepressants) that I could not awaken from.
I knew things had to change or else I might not ever recover. I got on my knees and said “God I have done all I know to do. You have to take me or fix me.” The pain I was causing my family was becoming unbearable. One morning a friend called with an article in a health magazine “Get your life back from Fibromyalgia!” At this point in my life, I would have tried just about anything. This article gave me hope and for the first time, I didn’t feel alone.
I started with the minerals. Then I found Mary Deane (my herbal mother). She helped me with an intestinal cleanse (I was very constipated), enzymes and more minerals. She asked me about what foods I liked to eat. She told me that what I was eating was causing stress on my body, the inability to absorb nutrients (Calcium, B12, Minerals) and the inability to remove toxins from my body.
I now had hope and a new battle plan. I was able to take some classes and I was helping others who saw how I had come back to life.
In October 2001 Doug and I opened Nature’s Health. I continue to take classes. I am now a Certified Natural Health Professional and am enrolled in the Naturopathic School of Medicine with Trinity College. I have studied "The KI Method" with Glenn King and The Davis Method which aids in correcting Dyslexia. God has truly blessed me.
I now have no health concerns, no medication and I can sit in the living room with my family and pick up my grandchildren. All of this is a miraculous gift from God. His word fills us with Hope and Direction. I thank God as he has allowed me to pass on some simple truths from His word that may help others overcome the fear, hopelessness, depression and physical symptoms that steel our lives and keep us from doing His will. By using nutritional supplements, The KI Method and God's suggestions for choosing what I eat allows me to regain and maintain my health and my Life.
